New Books

New Books

It’s the new year and it may be that reading is on your New Years Resolution list.  Well, we are here to help.

A great time to get to know Goodreads is NOW.  You can make yourself a reading goal for the year and it will keep track of the books you have read when you update your goodreads reading log.  Check out your yearly reading goal on goodreads HERE.

Goodreads is such a great way to keep track of the books you have read!  I know, the handy and ever with you notebook is helpful…but let me stress again how great and helpful Goodreads is!  We use it constantly at the library and it’s probably the number one reason you think we are so knowledgeable on books…because we look on goodreads.

Well, except for Alicia.  She really IS that knowledgeable about books! (and Denise is saying that, just so you know. Alicia would never pridefully say that but the truth is, Alicia knows her books! )

December is the slowest month EVER in book publishing.  I have no idea why.  My guess is that no one wants to go around promoting their book at the holidays.  I think that’s why so many books come out in October…they promote them and then go home to enjoy Thanksgiving and Christmas and New Years with their families.

But then comes January.  And man do we have a lot of new books for you!

Here at the library, we also began the very tedious makes a huge mess to make a big impact rearranging of the adult library books.  Now they are ALL alphabetical (exception being Westerns and Science Fiction, where you can find them where they always have been located.).

When we are done, it would be a great time to stop in and browse the shelves.  You’ll find all the authors all together and maybe you’ll discover a brand new favorite.  How fun that would be!

But at the moment it’s just a mess and we are in need of coffee, motrin and a nap.

However, our new cart is still our new cart and you can find all these books in the new cart or on the top shelves of our children and Young Adult sections so stop in and read up!

(Click any book and you will be taken to our online catalog system where you can reserve these.)

What are you excited to read???

New Books!

New Books!

We have stacks of new books.  Our new book cart is overflowing.  Over over flowing.  It REALLY needs you to come in and check out lots of books!  On top of our great new selection we received a very generous donation of Christian Fiction books as well, a LOT of Amish and there are many complete series.  Come check out stacks of books!

December is usually a pretty slow month for new books so it’s a great time to catch up on all the new fall releases.

For Christmas we will be showcasing a lot of Christmas books in the middle display but very soon we will be doing Staff Favorites and that is going to be so difficult because there have been SO MANY good new books out!

In other library news, we want to let you know that we have a new someone here at the library to help you with all your library needs!  Soon we will be introducing Tamie to you all.  We still have Alicia and Denise here, Regina had a chance to stay home with her family and we are so happy for her!

Our Online Library Catalog has been totally updated.  I am going to attempt to now link all books to our website.  Goodreads, how we still love it!, updated so sharing the books on our website to link you to goodreads to learn more about the book isn’t working anymore.  Now you can link right to the Library catalog where you can reserve the book that’s here right from the site!  You can also rate books, leave a review and BRAND NEW, register for upcoming library events so that you are emailed when the event is coming up!

Click any book cover to take you to the book on our website, click reserve and it will be at the front desk for you!

Check it all out here!

New Books for March

In full disclosure, I am about to tell you about the new books that have been put on the shelves BUT…..there is a box of new books sitting behind me that has some delicious titles and there is a box on its way that Alicia is so excited to have arrive and yet dreading it because there are going to be some must read books in there.

March is reading month!  And apparently it is new books month too.

But here are the books that we have recently put up in the library:

Bone Box (Peter Decker/Rina Lazarus, #24) Dodge City: Wyatt Earp, Bat Masterson, and the Wickedest Town in the American West Long Time Gone (The Cimarron Legacy, #2) Springtime of the Spirit (The Great War, #3) Treasured Grace (Heart of the Frontier #1)

This Baldacci book is another in his teen series.

The Width of the World (Vega Jane, #3)

The I Survived series that your kids love?  These are more from that author but true stories!

Tornado Terror: True Tornado Survival Stories and Amazing Facts from History and Today (I Survived True Stories, #3)

Newer Books at the Library

Newer Books at the Library

If I say Newer Books does that make them sound even more interesting????  I don’t know.  But I thought it was worth a try.  These are NEWER books then say, oh, a week or so ago.

Today the sun is shining and you just went to get out and soak up that Vitamin D.  That’s what Michiganders are like.  First hint of spring and we are all outdoors.  Why not bring a book along with you?  Maybe set up that hammock and snuggle with a blanket if you get chilled.  Sounds wonderful to me!

Here are brand new books in at the library:

Adults –

Heartbreak Hotel (Alex Delaware, #32) Humans, Bow Down Most Dangerous Place (Jack Swyteck, #13) A Piece of the World Racing the Devil (Inspector Ian Rutledge, #19) Moving Target (Elite Guardians #3) A Note Yet Unsung (Belmont Mansion, #3) Rescue Me (Montana Rescue, #2) Right Behind You (Quincy & Rainie, #7) Still Life (Chesapeake Valor #2) Dining with Joy (Lowcountry Romance, #3) A Heart Once Broken (The St. Lawrence County Amish #1) More Than a Dream The Postcard (Amish Country Crossroads, #1) Rebecca's Promise (Adams County #1) Rebecca's Return (Adams County, #2) Until I Love Again

Young Adult –

Silver Stars (Front Lines, #2)

Picture Books –

Mighty, Mighty Construction Site
